Brush Ltd is a premium Beauty Artistry team, specialising in Bespoke Wedding Hair and Makeup, based across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey. Run by Sian Miller and Georgia Moone they have a team of 16 incredibly talented and passionate artists that pride themselves on their dedication to making others not only look, but feel beautiful!

I’ve had a chat with Sian, who I’ve had the honour to work with as both a photographer and a bride (she did my wedding hair!), about all things wedding beauty. And she answers some FAQs which will help you lovely brides when it comes to choosing your hair & make up team.

What inspired you to become a wedding hair and makeup artist?

I love love love being around people, making people feel amazing and making them feel good about themselves. I have always been creative and a just love the artistry of hair and makeup and creating something beautiful but for me, it’s all about the amazing brides and bridal parties I get to spend all my time with, leaving them feeling a million dollars ready for such a special day genuinely never gets old.

How would you describe your signature style when it comes to wedding hair and makeup? 

We have always had a natural, laid back, slightly boho vibe. Our aim is always to make sure our brides look like the best version of themselves rather than a totally different person so our style is very much about enhancing natural beauty.

How do you work with brides to create a personalized look that reflects their vision and personality? 

Getting to know our brides is so important! All my emails are personal and tailored to my brides, I never use automated templates etc as I want to ensure I am really connecting with my brides and getting a feel for who they are and what they like, and that way they get a really good sense of who we are too! I take my time on trials really chatting through everything, getting a picture of their whole day as this all helps to build a picture of them and their vision for the day. I very much operate a virtual open-door policy when it comes to my brides whether that’s on social media, whatsapp, email etc, I am always here to chat through things and bounce ideas around with them as that’s how we get to know them and provide the best service we possibly can!

What steps do you take to ensure the bridal hair and makeup lasts throughout the entire wedding day? 

Good quality products for a start but more importantly getting to know our clients skin type, hair type etc and so we can best understand how to approach their hair and makeup in the right way for them. It’s never one size fits all so understanding our brides needs is hugely important. And also trials! These are compulsory for our brides for very good reason – this gives us the opportunity to meet them, see them in the flesh and get a really good feel for their hair/skin etc. We will always ask for feedback from trials so that we can then make any possible product changes if necessary. 

Do you offer trial sessions prior to the wedding? How important do you consider them in the process? 

Ended up answering this above haha but trials are compulsory for brides and we offer them for anyone else who wants them. Trials are so so important, not only to help decide on the hair and makeup look for the day but also to give us a chance to see our brides and get a feel for them, their hair and their gorgeous faces! Trials are also a great chance to see how the hair and makeup wears so that we can then make any adjustments for the day so that it’s perfect. It’s also a really nice opportunity for our brides to also meet us and get to know us before we then spend their whole wedding morning with them! Having the right team around you on your wedding morning is so important because it sets the tone for the day!

Can you accommodate a large bridal party? 

Yes we can! We have a large team of 16 wonderful artists who we love very much and we all love working together so we can do as many services as needed!

What products do you use in your kit, and do you offer any special options for clients with specific preferences or skin sensitivities? 

We use a huge variety of products but always focusing on great quality! The benefit of having a team as well means we all swap product recommendations and advice etc, you can never stop learning in this industry! We always cater to any preferences and needs as many people have allergies/sensitivities so we always make sure we find these out early and chat through everything to make sure we are fully prepped to provide the same great service for everyone!

What is your favourite hair and make up trend for 2023 weddings? 

This is such a hard one! Updo’s are always a personal favourite of mine, I absolutely love them and we are seeing such a variety but low, textured messy buns for that effortless look will always be a firm favourite! And for makeup, there is a huge love for glowing, healthy fresh faced makeup thanks to the likes of Hailey Bieber and Sofia Richie and I really love it, again it’s that effortless boho style that i’m always drawn to!

Is there anything else you would like to share? 

So much, I can talk for England haha. But honestly I say this a lot, I wake up every day so ridiculously happy that I get to call this a job. We love what we do, and feel so lucky to be able to do this every day, meet so many amazing people and spend our time making people feel amazing. I never take it for granted and have so much love for all the amazing brides who book us and let us be a part of their special day!
